Solid Lifter Valve Adjustment Specs
Solid Lifter Valve Adjustment Specs. And 0.028 is 0.012 further for the intakes and 0.026 further for the exhausts. Select a known size lifter to measure against (any as long as the size is known.) use the same lifter for all the positions.

It does this by filling and emptying the lifter with engine oil, through a metering orifice and a check valve. The following valve lash/preload adjustment chart is based on the original mopar performance valve adjustment chart as found in the mopar performance enginebuild manual (s). And 0.028 is 0.012 further for the intakes and 0.026 further for the exhausts.

I don't think you will be driving the snot out of it like the cops would hence the twice a year adjustment. Starting on the odd bank 1,3,5,7, starting with the exhaust, turn it over until the #1 intake valve just starts to close back up from full open, then adjust #1 exhaust valve, then when #3 intake just starts to close adjust #1 intake, and run 5. Set the intake valve to 0.016, and the exhaust valve to 0.018.
That Seems A Little Excessive.
In order to automatically maintain zero lash in the valvetrain, under all operating conditions. The adjustment procedure is the same for both flat tappet and roller solid lifters. Discussion starter · #1 · may 13, 2009.
The Cam In The Graph Is For A Flathead, Using Squish Of 0.002 The Valve Lash Should Be 0.0127 Or 0.013.
Since the valve cannot move until all the running clearance (valve lash) has been taken up, the amount of valve lash you use affects the engine’s performance. Once the pushrod length is set, the jam nut must be torqued to secure the adjustment. They are solid pieces of metal between the cam lobe and pushrod.
Select A Known Size Lifter To Measure Against (Any As Long As The Size Is Known.) Use The Same Lifter For All The Positions.
The cam in the graph is for a flathead, using squish of 0.002. Solid lifters (aka mechanical) are exactly what the name implies. Working on one cylinder at a time, rotate the engine in the normal rotation.
These Gaps Are Known As Lash.
According to this, with the all iron setup the lash gets smaller as it heats up. This type of valvetrain needs gaps between components to allow for thermal expansion. Hydraulic camshafts, when used with adjustable rockers, require ‘preload’.
